18 marzo, 2026Gilead will be supporting a minimum of 2 awards through this program, with each awardee receiveing USD 130.000 paid to the institution.
This program is designed to support any basic, translational or clinical research that addresses and unmet medical need and closes scientific gaps in the field of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) in Australia, Canada and Europe.
Areas:
- Impact of other concomitant liver diseases in addition to autoimmune hepatitis and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)
- Fibrosis progression and regression pathways
- Novel biomarkers and pathways associated with symptomatology and extra hepatic manifestations including bone related diseases
- Understanding every aspect of PBC across different racial/ethnic groups and genders
- Molecular mechanisms of cholestatic pruritus
- Any other research that addresses unmet needs in PBC
Eligibility:
- Early careers scientists with a strong research track record of published research, who hold a position at a research insititution
- Hold and MD or PhD (or equivalent) at the time of application
- MD qualifications should have been obtained within the last 10 years or PhD qualifications within the last 5 years
- Have a research mentor with extensive experience in Primary Biliary Cholangitis
- Be able to devote at least 30% of professional time to research for the 2-year award period
- Demonstrate a strong career interest in PBC and/or Hepatology related research
