Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Path to a Cure Pioneer Award 2025
23 octubre, 2025The Chron’s and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization dedicated to finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. This year there are three initiatives:
- Litwin IBD Pioneers
This initiative supports innovative clinical and traslational research projects with the potential to impact the treatment if IBD patients in the near future. The program encourages novel research into the diagnosis, identification of clinically relevant subsets, treatments, and cures for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and funds innovative pilot research so that scientists can test their initial ideas and generate preliminary data.

Grant: up to USD 130.000
- Senior Research Awards
This awards provides and established researcher with funds to generate sufficient preliminary data to become competitive for funds from other sources. The proposal must be relevant to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) or Crohn’s disease and/or ulcerative colitis. Only one application per applicant is allowed.

Grant: up to USD 118.182 per year
- Clinical Research Investigator-Initiated Awards
- Senior Research Award (CRIA-SRA) (see above)
- Career Development Award (CRIA-CDA)
The objective is to directly impact patient care by addressing an important clinical question by studying people either through direct interaction with the people and/or indirectly by studying people through large databases, such as claims data or administrative data. Priority will be given to proposals that address the priorities outlined in the Pragmatic Clinical Research publication within the Challenges in IBD Research .
PI and Co-PI must be employed by institutions (public non-profit, private non-profit, or government) engaged in health care and/or health related research. International applicants are also eligible to apply, and there are no geographical restrictions regarding research site locations. The lead PI must be a junior faculty member (Instructor or Assistant Professor, prior to receiving an independent R01 grant or international equivalent) with experience in IBD research as part of their career development.

Grant: up to USD 250.000 per year for up to three years
